The problem
A project-based organization with several departments needed reliable reporting, clearer processes and a path from spreadsheets to integrated enterprise systems, without losing alignment between departments along the way.
The objective
Give management live visibility into performance, define the target enterprise system landscape, and put the governance and data foundations in place to deliver it.
My role
- Lead BI and data initiatives end to end, from requirements gathering through delivery.
- Own stakeholder alignment and reporting standards across departments.
- Scoped an enterprise ERP implementation programme: build-versus-buy comparison, phased roadmap and cost/effort estimates used for the executive decision.
- Ran requirements workshops with Finance, Supply Chain, Operations and HR through to department-head sign-off.
- Defined governance: team roster, RACI, steering-committee cadence, escalation paths, and the delivery plan with dependencies and critical path.
Technical approach
- Documented AP/AR/GL, procurement, inventory, work-order and payroll requirements department by department.
- Mapped as-is and to-be processes for the organization's top end-to-end processes and maintained a pain-point register that shaped the target system design.
- Contributed to cloud data architecture decisions: provider selection, landing-zone setup, managed database provisioning, backup and access-control policy.
- Designed a relational PostgreSQL data model with Project as the central entity, to replace spreadsheet-based tracking.
- Built and maintained Power BI dashboards for KPIs, project status and operational performance.

In-house build
Too close to call: only 2.9 points ahead of Cloud-hosted ERP. A decision here should rest on factors outside the matrix.

Outcome
- Management has live dashboard visibility into KPIs, project status and operational performance.
- The ERP comparison, roadmap and estimates were used for the executive decision.
- Department-signed requirements and a pain-point register now define the target system design.
Next steps
- Consolidate HR tools into a single platform.
- Continue moving operational tracking onto the relational data model.
